Gracie's Story

I am a 15-year-old high school freshman. ADD has made my life hard and way too confusing.

It does not help that I have Cyclothymia , a mood disorder kind of like Bi-Polar, i go through stages to deep deep black hole depression for no reason, flashes of anger and areas of calm in between. In school I had tons of problems that I hid well. My grades where average so no flags were thrown up to my teachers but I knew something was different. I was in high school and had trouble with simple math, my handwriting…

I could not understand the cycles. I have so many interests and what I call "brief but intense enthusiasms," so I'd get involved in a variety of projects (all good things). I'd take on too many responsibilities in each area--sometimes just because I was good at it and desperately needed to feel good about myself. I actually enjoyed these things and poured myself into them...until I got bored. I'd lose interest, procrastinate, and let other people down. Then the activities got to be too much,…
